Announcement of Head of Kedarnathji
The Hindu activist Bharat Jangam had been researching and claiming that Doleshwar Mahadev is the head part of Kedarnath based on the surprising links between Kedarnath and Doleshwor. The Sculptures of Shive found in both shrines are 4,000 years old. Even a stone scripture found in Doleshwor was written in Kannada, an Indian language. The priests in both shrines are selected from Indian’s southern states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Both priests affix the word ‘ling’ after their names to convey their proximity to the god as his worshipper and both temples have a cluster of five Shiva shrines. The main deity of both priests is Birbhadra, a companion of Shiva, according to Hindu scriptures.
In August 22, 2009 the head priest of Kedarpeeth Shree 1008 Jagat Guru Bheemashankarling Shivacharya unveiled the plaque claiming that Doleswore Mahadev, located in Jangam math Bhaktapur, is the head part of Shri Kedarnath. He performed Rudra Abhishek, a special worshipping at the Doleshwor temple situated in Sipadol village of Bhaktapur district. This is also mentioned in the inscription (Sheela Lekh) at Doleshwar Mahadev. Thousands of devotees have been thronging in the Doleswor Mahadev Temple.
Reasons and evidence for declaring Kedarnath as holy
- Evidence of the establishment of a Guthi by Yudhishthira's great-grandson, King Janmajya, on the day of Yudhishthira's ninety-ninth Shraddha, to offer worship from the income of 1,700 mothers from Garhwal, India, is preserved in the Ukhi Math, the administrative site of Shri Kedarnath in Uttaranchal.
- Since then, a Guthi has been established in honor of the head of Shri Kedarnath and worshipped by Lingayat Jangam Brahmins of the Veerashaiva faith.Even today, the arrangements for worship are made by the Rawal Math in Bhaktapur.
- Evidence has been found that during the time when Garhwal was under Nepal's control, the Rawal Monastery in Bhaktapur, Nepal, made administrative arrangements and worshipped Shree Kedarnath in Uttaranchal, India for 150 years.
- The head of the Ukhi Math, where the administration of Shri Kedarnathji is conducted in Uttaranchal, India, is also given the title of 'Rawal', while the head of the Jangam Math in Bhaktapur is also given the title of 'Rawal', which suggests that these two Maths are similar in nature. Also, since the worship of Shree Kedarnathji and Shree Doleshwor Mahadev is performed by Shaiva Brahmins of the Veerashaiva dynasty, there is a similarity between these two Peethas.
- The shape, height, thickness, and form of the Swayambhu Linga of Shri Kedarnath are similar to the Linga of Doleshwor Mahadev. Also, the Shiva Purana states, "In the same form that I remain in the abode of Kedarnath, I will remain in Nepal as well," which proves that the head of Kedarnath is Shri Doleshwar Mahadev.
- Considering the geographical position of Shri Kedarnathji in Uttaranchal, India, which is located in the northwest corner and Shri Doleshwar Mahadev is located in the southeast corner, the linga of Shri Doleshwar Mahadev is tilted in the southeast corner. Thus, from a scientific perspective, it is correct to assume that when coming from afar, one should lean towards the southeast angle.
Jai Bholenath!
